Last week we shared some incredible glowing tree stump lanterns made by a legally blind artist from Australia. Today we bring you a different sort of glowing tree stump, which is equally impressive. Made by Justin Beaumont of Straight Line Design, these tree rings are fashioned from Pine Beetle wood. Each stump is sliced and then coated with a colored resin top. While they look pretty cool during the day, as-is, the real magic happens at night when the ring patterns light up thanks to embedded lights beneath the surface.
Straight Line Designs, Inc. is based in Vancouver, British Columbia and these examples were originally created for the Summer Lights show. Unfortunately it doesn’t seem like these ever went into any formal production, though we imagine Justin could be commissioned to produce some more for anyone interested.
