In this short article we wanted to give you an idea of how to build your own coffee table like the one shown below. One of the biggest challenges of working with pallets comes from dismanteling them. They are a lot harder to take apart than you might imagine. In this case, the pallet remains largely intact, saving you the effort required to pry each board apart. In between the standard spaces you can see a different type of wood slat has been laid across and painted white, adding a nice touch and a linear surface. The pallet coffee table also has wheels attached to the bottom, making it easy to move around. You’d be suprised how heavy these things can be!

What you’ll need:

  • 1-2 pallets
  • A hand saw or circular saw
  • 4″ x 4″ blocks
  • casters or wheels
  • Wood stain or chalk paint for distressing

The basic layout

Here you can see the unfinished product without stain or chalk paint. The two surfaces are made by cutting the pallet in half.

The finished product

Here you can see a nice overview of what you’ll be making. The six blocks add a nice tier to the table, allowing storage space underneath.

View from above

This angle shows a nice view of the top, which has the alternating boards. I love the white distressed chalk paint which adds a unique look to the table.
